EI Developmental Play Groups

Our Developmental Play Groups provide a fun, engaging, and supportive environment where children ages 18 months to 3 years can learn, grow, and connect with others through play.

Designed for children enrolled in New York State’s Early Intervention Program with a current IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan), our groups are led by licensed Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and Special Education Teachers who create developmentally appropriate activities that support each child’s individual goals.

Using a sensory-motor approach, children participate in hands-on experiences that promote growth across all areas of development, including:

• Communication and language skills
• Social-emotional development
• Cognitive and early learning skills
• Fine and gross motor development
• Adaptive and daily living skills
• Peer interaction and socialization

Each class session incorporates a variety of engaging activities such as imaginative play, sensory exploration, arts and crafts, music and movement, books, puzzles, gross motor play in our sensory gym, and outdoor play on our fenced playground. Children also have opportunities to practice sharing, turn-taking, following routines, and interacting with peers in a supportive group setting.

With a low student-to-teacher ratio and a therapeutic, play-based environment, our Developmental Play Groups help children build confidence, develop new skills, and prepare for success in future learning and social experiences.

Abilities is an approved New York State Early Intervention Service Provider
for the statewide Early Intervention Program under Title 11-A of Article 25 of the Public Health Law.
